Barcelona Sants Station

Barcelona Sants is Barcelona's main train station and this is also where international trains arrive. The station is located in the western part of the city and the historic centre can be reached within 15 minutes using public transport.

Although Barcelona Sants is not in the city centre, it is an important hub. Trains depart from Barcelona Sants to various destinations, both within Spain as internationally. Similarly, the train from Paris arrives at Barcelona Sants station. It is a busy station with many facilities such as restaurants, shops and ATMs.


Shops

Barcelona Sants train station has a large shopping centre called "Sants Estació" that offers a wide range of shops. You can buy clothes, souvenirs and electronics. You will also find supermarkets, pharmacies, bookshops and much more. The mall is on level -1 of the station and is easily accessible using escalators and lifts.

Nearby department stores

If you are looking for a department store near Barcelona Sants, head to L'Illa Diagonal shopping centre or the famous El Corte Inglés department store. Both are about a 20-minute walk from Barcelona Sants.

Food and drinks

There is a wide choice of catering at the station. At the station, there are several restaurants, cafes and fast food chains where you can recharge with a bite to eat and a drink before continuing your journey. Most catering outlets are located near the shopping and waiting areas, and are easy to find by following the signs or simply walking around the station.

Travelling with the metro

Barcelona Sants train station is connected to several metro lines of Barcelona's public transport system. The metro lines connected to Barcelona Sants are:

  • Line 3 (green line): This line stops right within this central train station. You can travel with line 3 to Camp Nou, FC Barcelona's stadium, to the Sagrada Família and the Gracia district, for example.
  • Line 5 (blue line): This line also stops at Barcelona Sants. Get off at Diagonal and Park Güell if you want to go to the city centre.
  • Line 1 (red line): This line has a station (Hostafrancs) which is about a 10-minute walk from Barcelona Sants. This line takes you to the famous Plaça Catalunya square and the lively El Raval district, among others.

Bike hire Barcelona Sants

It is possible to hire bikes at Barcelona Sants train staiton. There are also several bike rental companies near the station that rent bikes for a few hours or an entire day.
One of the popular bike rental companies is Green Bikes Barcelona. This company offers different types of bikes, such as city bikes, e-bikes, tandem bikes and children's bikes. They also have different bike tours you can book to explore the city.

Lost & found

If you have lost an item at Barcelona Sants railway station, there are several things you can do to try and retrieve it:

  • Visit the lost property offices at the station. You will find these in the central hall of the station. You can inquire about the lost property there and fill in a statement.
  • Contact Renfe or SNCF. Renfe is the Spanish railway company that operates train services from Barcelona Sants. You can contact the Renfe customer service to inquire whether the lost item has been found. SNCF is the French railway company. With them you can also report lost property if you lost it at a French station or train when heading to Barcelona.

Luggage storage

There are several options for storing luggage at Barcelona Sants train station. The most common option is luggage storage at Explanada de l'Estació, located on level -1 of the station, next to the train platforms. This storage facility offers lockers of various sizes. The cost varies and depends on the size of the locker and the duration of storage.
Another option is the company's luggage depot Stow Your Bags, just a 3-minute walk from the station. This luggage storage also offers lockers in different sizes, depending on the size of your luggage. Prices are similar to those at the Explanada de l'Estació.
It is always wise to check opening hours to avoid being caught off guard. Not all lockers are available 24 hours a day.
