(Electric) shared bike

Would you like to cycle during your city trip in Brussels, but you do not have a bicycle? Don't worry, there are plenty of opportunities to rent a bike in Brussels. Just like in Antwerp, Brussels has a good bike-sharing system. Villo! has over 350 self-service bike stations spread throughout the Brussels Capital Region. This makes it easy to explore the city and return the bike to one of the many stations. There is always a drop-off point nearby.

Rental bikes

  • Pro Vélo rents bicycles and is also known for its guided city tours by bicycle.
  • CyCLO is a unique bicycle point in the heart of Brussels. Every day, CyCLO tries to find the answers to 3 Brussels' challenges; mobility, environment and work. So, they also rent out bicycles, from an ordinary bike to an adapted one and from tandems to bicycle trailers and cargo bikes.

You will no doubt see many Blue-bikes passing by in Brussels. This is the Belgian OV-fiets, public transport bike. You can download an app to use it and rent a bike at several stations. The prices are very low. Before leaving, check the terms and conditions on their website, which change occasionally.

Brussels' cycling map

The Belgian capital offers many beautiful cycling routes. With the map guide 'The Brussels bicycle map' you will discover the city by means of 8 bicycle routes. Each route has a different theme and is accessible to cyclists of all levels.

The map guide is available from the cycling associations and tourism information desks in Brussels. This cycling map also includes useful facts. For example, height differences, cycle paths, Villo! stations, forest paths and many more tips. That way, you will be fully prepared.

Guided cycle tours

A guided bike tour is perhaps the best way to get to know Brussels. Here is a list of the best guided bike tours.

  • The Brussels Bike Tour is a very enjoyable bike tour. The tour takes about 3.5 hours, with time for a snack in the famous Maison Antoine. The tour can be booked from April to October.
  • Pro Vélo has a nice and original offer of city tours that shows you all the nooks and crannies of Brussels.
  • Do you want to cycle the entire weekend? Then choose a Cactus weekend tour. This is an ideal combination of the well-known highlights and the lesser known places.

Bring your own bicycle to Brussels by train

Would you prefer to take your own bike on a city trip? With Intercity Brussels you can easily and inexpensively take your own bike with you from the Netherlands to Brussels. Please note the following:

  • The price of a bicycle ticket depends on the route and is only valid in combination with another ticket.
  • You can book your bike ticket online, contact NS International Customer Service by phoning 030 230 00 23 or visit an NS International desk at the Tickets & Service Shop at the larger stations.
  • Please note, that it is not permitted to take a bicycle to/from Brussels Central Station (fortunately, it is permitted to/from Brussel Zuid/Midi).
  • Folding bicycles can be carried free of charge.
  • In summer, reservations are required.
