Tip: in the booking module select a departure time of around 20.00 hrs (outbound and return journey) to immediately see the night train option in the next step.

Our partner Deutsche Bahn has decided to no longer carry out the City Night Line connections as of 11 December 2016 when the new schedule is effective. A part of the night-train connections will be taken over by the Austrian Railways (ÖBB), but not the connection to and from Amsterdam. By changing trains in Cologne or Dusseldorf there will always be a good connection with the night-train network. The definite schedule is not yet known.

    • Couchettes: Shared dormitory accommodation 2nd Class, to book for 5 people. If you desire to travel with less than five people in one compartment and if you do not want you lie with unknown passangers in the compartment, you are advised to book five tickets. These additional tickets you can book as a Standard fare. The additional tickets can only be booked by telephone or at the service office.
    • Sleepers: 1-, 2- or 3-person compartments, Economy (2nd class) and Deluxe (1st class)
    • Seats: On the City Night Line are three regular Intercity carriages (2nd and 1st class) linked with it. In these carriages you will find just seats and no sleeping places.

Please note! Because of this change, the timetable will indicated you booked a seat on an Intercity train, not a City Night Line.

    Reservation mandatory

It is necessary to make a reservation for City Night Line. This way, you are always assured of a place in the type of accommodation you want.

    Visum / Passport

We advise you check with your consulate or embassy whether a visa is required to enter the country of destination. The sleeping car controller will hold your passport and tickets and takes care of custom control during the night. If this is not the case, you will be informed of this during the trip.
